This annual one-day conference is for genealogists, historians, authors and researchers.
The Family History Institute has in the past attracted participants from across the U.S. as well as internationally.
The conference will provide information for the novice as well as advanced genealogist.
This year’s speakers are Carolyn Earle Billingsley, Ph.D., Program Director for the Bachelor of Arts in Genealogical Studies at Akamai University and Frieda Patrick Davidson, Russell County Virginia native and Dean of Libraries at the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, SC.
This year’s lecture topics include:
- The Reality of Researching Your Indian Ancestry
- Researching the 20th Century Soldier
- Melungeons and Other Mixed Race Groups
- Cemetery Art and Symbolism
- Let’s All Move to Rocky Top
After the banquet, Sam Gleaves, 2009 recipient of the Berea College Pinnacle Scholar of Excellence scholarship will provide a musical program, “Old Time Appalachian Folk Music.”
